Fishing Report for December 10,2009.

Winter Steelhead 2009-2010!

Fish are coming in the lower section of the river and have been for the past week or two. Fresh from the ocean and are chrome beauties. The last 5 days have seen more fish each day and looks like it will be the start of another good season.

The fish are taking eggs, roe bags, and other small imitations of roe. With the cold temperatures the fish are still grabbing the hooks so the fishermen are probably feeling the conditions more than the fish. We are taking trips out pretty much daily with a bit of room for the month. For those that are waiting for good fishing conditions, now is a great way to spend a day away from the daily routine. Come spend a day on the Stamp! Enjoy some breathtaking scenery and the comforts of an 18 foot jet boat powered by a new 140 Suzuki.

December is here and what a great gift to give someone heading out Steelhead fishing for the day. Call for details and availability. This month generally sees the crowds not too heavy yet so that is a nice touch to fishing. Don't hesitate to call or email. All the best in the new year and thanks to everyone who have supported us through the past year. We can be reached at nick@westcoastrivercharters.ca 1-250-720-5449 (cell) or 1-250-723-0136. Tight lines! Nick Hnennyj.

Fishing Report for November 19 2009.

Well with November starting on the down slope, I could not make a cast till December and still say what an incredible start to the Steelhead season. If we get half as many tomorrow as we did today it would truly be great fishing.

Just want to say thanks to everyone that fished with us during the salmon season and for the steelhead fishermen who have and are planning trips in the near future.

The rains are here and the fishing is excellent. The summer runs are going strong with another strong return put out by the hardworkers at Robertson Creek Hatchery. Winter Steelhead is just around the corner and as the water subsides it should see some fresh fish enter the Stamp River. Trips are going out daily rain or shine. The water is high and with the Coho now starting to spawn it keeps these eager steelhead around. Simple, find the salmon and the steelies won't be far. Fishing with anything that resembles a salmon egg and you should have some good success. We are booking trips for the upcoming season so don't hesitate to give us a call. With the Christmas season coming, what better gift than to spend out on the river? Our contact info is as follows. Fishing report for October 25 2009.

Truly an amazing start to the Steelhead year. The summer runs are aggressive as usual this time of year and in prime shape. With all the Chinook spawning there is plenty of food rolling on the bottom. Quite often we can see the steelies nosing in the gravel grabbing single eggs.

For some of the best action possibly of the year for steelhead now is the time to plan a trip. Some days still available for November so you won't want to miss out. We are booking days for Winter Steelhead as well starting in December. These fish will start entering in Late November and will come in till next may.

The Hatchery has over 300 steelhead in holding right now and after they are finished with the spawning of coho the fish will be trucked down to the lower river by the Ministry of Environment so there is more opportunity to catch summer runs in the lower river. Give us a call for best dates available. 1-250-723-0136 or 1-250-720-5449. We can be reached by e-mail as well at nick@westcoastrivercharters.ca Looking forward to fishing with you. Nick Hnennyj.

Fishing Report for October 2, 2009

Lots of coho. The river has seen over 35000 through Stamp Falls counters to date and as of October 2nd the limits go from 2 to 4 either hatchery or wild. Great opportunities are here for some great fall fishing. Due to lower numbers of chinook it is now non-retention for them. We are still permitted to fish bait from the bucket down and will help to entice the numbers of coho along with steelhead.

It has been an excellent fall fishing season and will continue till we turn the corner to key in on summer steelhead. We currently have the boats in the lower somass-stamp and will be moving a boat to the upper stamp very shortly. You won't want to miss out on the fantastic scenery and fishing that will be happening throughout the month. We also will be doing trips to the Nitinat starting October 15th when it is open for coho. If you haven't planned a trip or are thinking about it don't hesitate to call. We can be reached by e-mail or phone and will return calls after 4:00 pm daily. Fishing Report. September 8 2009.

The Stamp is in full swing after a bit of rain over the last couple days. Coho are the bulk of what is coming in with some chinook as well.

What better time of year to fish? Lots of salmon showing that are bright silver fresh from the ocean are a key to having some great days. For the novice angler it is a great lesson on presentation, drifting and battling with a bunch of spunky fish. For the seasoned angler it gives you a chance to see some different water and not have to work too hard in doing so. We have trips going out daily and having some great success.

On our trips all gear is provided. Bring your licence, lunch, and propper clothing and leave the rest to us. We clean and bag your catch or as most do this time of year a cooler works well.

We are fishing the Stamp right now and do trips to the Nitinat starting on the 15th of October. If you haven't booked your trip yet, give us a call. 1-250-723-0136 or 1-250-720-5449. My e-mail is nick@westcoastrivercharters.ca Looking forward to fishing with you. Nick Hnennyj Owner/Operator West Coast River Charters.

Fishing report. August 18, 2009

Good day to everyone. I hope you are all enjoying your summer. The river is underway with some good numbers of steelhead in the system. Chinook and coho are also entering under the river despite the very low water and the hot temperatures we have been experiencing the last little while.

The next few weeks should definitley see the river getting into full swing. The local hatchery is already seeing chinook and coho at the entrance waiting to swim in. Trips are going out in the lower and upper river with good success. If you haven't booked your trip yet or are planning to come fish the stamp river we have some room in the next couple months. If you are interested in salmon or steelhead we can accomodate your needs.

August for summer runs. September-October for chinook and coho. November-May for summer and winter run steelhead. Please call us at 1-866-839-8411 (toll free) 1-250-720-5449 (cell) or e-mail at nick@westcoastrivercharters.ca Check out some pics from today's catch posted below. Looking forward to the upcoming season.

Fishing Report Feb. 3rd 2009.

March Madness is already underway!

The way to check out some big savings for fishing in March is to be signed up for our automatic fishing report through our sign up form.

Fishing seems to be a bit better with the temperatures warming up and not freezing everyday, the fish tend to be more active. We have been getting some nice fish in the lower river as well as the upper section. With the water low the drift boat is key to fish the full upper section. Truly amazing scenery and the fish moving from the canyon-falls area to the upper river makes this time of year a great time to fish up there. 8 kms of beauty, what a way to spend the day! Don't forget to sign up for our fishing report to check out some savings for March and make sure to mention it when you book your trip. For a great trip call us at 1-250-720-5449 or 1-250-723-0136 or e-mail, nick@westcoastrivercharters.ca Till then, tight lines!

Fishing Report for January 5 2009.

Happy New Year and all the best for 2009.

The fish seem to be trickling in still and with little pressure in the lower river makes for some okay days. With the upper river from the Ash confluence to Central Lake outlet now closed, the pressure will be way down for the upper river as well.

Winter fish are throughout the whole system now and we will be venturing with some early trips into the upper river. We had some great hookups in the last couple days with most of the fish landed had sea lice on them as a sure sign of fish just entering the river.

Lower jet or perhaps a trip in the upper river over 8 miles of real rugged wilderness. Whatever your interests are for a great trip, we can accomodate. Give us a call to plan a trip. Till then tight lines. 1-250-723-0136 or 1-250-720-5449
